Distance from Kandy – 1.4 km (6 minutes)

The Royal Palace of Kandy is situated towards the north of the Temple of the Tooth Relic. It is known as “Mahawasala” in Sinhala. This was the royal residence of the Sri Lankan monarchy back at the time when Kandy was the royal kingdom of the country. King Sri Vikrama Rajasingha was the last king to reside in this palace.
