The Royal Botanical Gardens are located in Peradeniya, about 5.5 km from Kandy town. It is near the Mahaweli River which is the longest river in Sri Lanka. The garden is 147 acres in size and includes more than 4000 species of plants such as orchids, medicinal plants, spices and palm trees.
