Richmond Castle is a mansion built to Edwardian style architecture that is located in Kalutara. It was built somewhere between 1900 and 1910 and has a combination of Western and Eastern architectural styles with decorative components. The castle served as the country seat of Mudaliyar Don Arthur de Silva Wijesinghe Siriwardena. At present it belongs to the Public Trustee Department of Sri Lanka and is open to visitors. The two-storey mansion sits on a hill that adjoins the Kalu Ganga River.
Getting to Richmond Castle
From Colombo travel along the Colombo – Galle Main Road and Riverside Road passing Panadura and Wadduwa up to Kalutara to reach the Richmond Castle which is situated in Palatota in the Kalutara district.
