Rankoth Vehera is an ancient stupa situated in Polonnaruwa. It was built by King Nissanka Malla and has the influence of Theravada Buddhism. Rankoth Vehera has been built following the styles of the stupas of the Anuradhapura period and bears a close resemblance to the Ruwanwelisaya in Anuradhapura. The stupa is made entirely of brick and along with the Kiri Vehera, it is one of the most highly regarded stupas in Polonnaruwa.
Getting to Rankoth Vehera
From Polonnaruwa travel approximately 1.8 km along the Maradankadawala-Habarana-Thirukkondaiadimadu Highway and turn to Gallambarawa Road. Travel approximately 3.2 km along the Gallambarawa Road to reach the Rankoth Vehera.
