Randenigala Dam is hydroelectric dam which is situated in the central highlands of Sri Lanka. The dam along with the power stations was officially opened in 1986. It is located 19 km from the popular Victoria Dam and 2.8 km upstream of the Rantambe Dam. The dam is made mostly of rocks and consists of a core made of clay. Randenigala Dam created the Randenigala Reservoir which is one of the largest reservoirs in Sri Lanka.
Getting to Randenigala Dam
From Nuwara Eliya travel along the Nuwara Eliya – Udapussellawa Road and Mahaweli Raja Mawatha passing Kandapola, Ragala and Arukwatta to reach the Randenigala Dam which is situated along Mahaweli Raja Mawatha in Rantambe.
