Introduction to Nalagana Falls
Nalagana Falls is situated in Dedugala in the Kegalle district. It is 40 meters high and springs from the Ritigaha Oya Reservoir which is a tributary of the Kelani River. The waterfall is also known as “Ritigaha Oya Falls”.
Visiting Nalagana Falls
The waterfall is not easily visible from the main road. Visitors need to go about 250 m from the main road in order to view it. There is a deep rock pool which can be used to bathe with precaution as the water level can suddenly rise. Nalagana Falls is best visited from February to April.
Getting to Nalagana Falls
From Kandy take the Colombo – Kandy Road and go past Peradeniya, Kadugannawa, Mawanella, Kegalle, Moronthota and Undugoda until Dedugala. Travel about 10 km along the Bulathkohupitiya – Dedugala Road to reach the Nalagana Falls.
