Distance from Anuradhapura – 9.1 km (17 minutes)
Nakha Vihara is an ancient stupa which is situated along Watawandana Road in Anuradhapura. It is located off the beaten track and is a rarely visited site in the ancient historic city. A gravel road leads to the ruins of this stupa which can only be accessed via a 4X4 wheel drive during the rainy season. It is one of the very few square shaped stupas in Sri Lanka. Nakha Vihara is believed to belong to the Anuradhapura period (7th to 10 centuries).
Getting to Nakha Vihara
From Anuradhapura travel along the Puttalam – Anuradhapura – Trincomalee Highway and turn to Halpanu Ela Parallel Road to reach the Nakha Vihara which is situated along Watawandana Road in Anuradhapura.
