MGR Statue is the statue of Tamil film icon Mr. M G Ramachandran, also known as MGR which is situated in Jaffna. MGR has been an icon in the film industry since the 1950s and was also a Chief Minister in of Tamil Nadu. The statue is a re-install due to the damage done by the military during the civil war in the country. The previous statue was situated in Valveddiththu’rai- Tho’ndaimaanaa’ru Road. MGR was born in Kandy and is a popular icon among the Tamils in Sri Lanka.
