Distance from Colombo – 70.5 km (1 hour 40 minutes)

Meemana Falls is situated in Mahagedara Watta, Gawaragiriya. It is 60 meters in height and is also known as Miyunu Falls. The water stream called Diya Dola starting from Horana Kanda Mountain forms the Meemana Falls. A famous Poet named Mr. Meemana Premathilaka has lived in this area and written a poem on this waterfall giving it the name “Meemana Falls”.

Getting to Meemana Falls

From Colombo take the Horana – Bulathsinhala – Mathugama Road and go past Horana until Gawaragiriya. Travel until Mahagedara Watta to reach the Meemana Falls which is situated behind the Kolambawa Grama Niladhari office. There is a footpath to take behind this office to reach the waterfall.
