Kurulu Kele Bird Sanctuary is a park which is situated in Kegalle. Located in the lowland wet zone it was declared as a sanctuary in the year 1941 because of its variety of bird species and plant diversity. The best seasons to visit the park is August, September, December, January or February. This is when the monsoonal rains are not active and visitors will be able to enjoy the scenic beauty of the many birds of the park. It is a rich and diverse bird sanctuary with both typical and migrant birds to be seen.

Getting to Kurulu Kele Bird Sanctuary

From Kandy travel along the Colombo – Kandy Road and then along the Kegalle Bypass Road passing Peradeniya, Pilimathalawa, Kadugannawa, Hingula, Mawanella and Molagoda up to Kegalle to reach the Kurulu Kele Bird Sanctuary.
