Katuwana Fort is a Defense fort which is situated in Katuwana in the Southern Province. It was built by the Dutch in 1646. The fort stands at a height of 5 m. It is diagonal in shape and has two bastions. The Kandyan forces captured and partially destroyed the fort during the ‘Matara Rebellion’ in 1761. Later on, the fort was abandoned during the British era. It is still in good condition and is open to the public.

From Tangalle travel along the Tangalle – Weeraketiya Road, Weeraketiya – Middeniya Road and Walasmulla – Katuwana – Middeniya Road passing Mulkirigala, Weeraketiya and Julampitiya up to Katuwana to reach the Katuwana Fort which is situated in Katuwana in the Southern Province.
