Kalpitiya Dutch Fort is a defence fort which is situated in Kalpitiya. It was built by the Dutch between 1667 and 1676. The fort served as an important point as it serves as an entrance to the adjacent Puttalam lagoon. The fort was built using limestone and coral with a height of approximately 4 m. At present it is used as a naval base by the Sri Lanka Navy and the ramparts are still in very good condition.
