Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary is a popular bird watching area in Kalametiya in the Hambantota district. It is one of the oldest and most popular bird sanctuaries in Sri Lanka. It was declared as a bird sanctuary in 1938. Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary has over 150 species of birds out of which 54 are migratory birds.

Getting to Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary

From Tangalle travel along Tangalle Road passing Medaketiya, Netolpitiya and Ranna up to Kalametiya to reach the Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary.
