Gayathri Temple is a Hindu temple which is situated in Nuwara Eliya. It is a very important and holy site in Nuwara Eliya. It is regarded as the first temple in Sri Lanka which was built for Gayathri Amman. The Shiva Lingam in this temple was said to have been brought from the holy river Narmada in India. This historic temple is visited by a large number of Hindu devotees every year.

Getting to Gayathri Temple

From Nuwara Eliya travel approximately 2.7 km along the Peradeniya-Badulla-Chenkaladi Highway and turn to Race Course Round Road to reach the Gayathri Temple which is situated about 2 km along the Race Course Round Road in Nuwara Eliya.
