Gampaha Botanical Garden is a botanical garden situated in the suburb of Gampaha. It is also known as Henarathgoda Botanical Garden and was established by the British in 1876. The first imported rubber tree to Sri Lanka was first planted in the Gampaha Botanical Garden. It was also the first seedlings of Brazilian rubber tree ever planted in the entire Asian region. The botanical garden spans in an area of 43 acres and is operated by the Department of National Botanic Gardens, Sri Lanka.

Getting to Gampaha Botanical Garden

From Colombo travel along the Negombo – Colombo Road passing Welisara and Kandana until Ja-ela. Then turn to Kirindiwita – Ganemulla Road and go past Batuwatta and Ganemulla until Gampaha. Travel approximately 1.4 km along the Malwatta Road in Gampaha to reach the Gampaha Botanical Garden.
