Galwangediya is situated along the Kuruwita – Erathna Sri Pada trail in Heramitipana. It is one of the main resting points included in the trail to Sri Pada where the here the Rathnapura – Palabathgala trail meets the Kuruwita – Erathna trail. There are many places to spend the night and eat at this location. Many prefer to reach Galwangediya by evening and spend the night there to end up at the mountain summit in time to catch the sunrise over Sri Pada.

Getting to Galwangediya

From Nuwara Eliya travel along the Avissawella – Hatton – Nuwara Eliya Highway and the Hatton – Maskeliya -Dalhousie Road passing Nanuoya, Hatton and Dickoya up to Maskeliya. Then travel along the Sri Pada Road up to Nallathanniya to reach the Sri Pada Mountain where Galwangediya is situated along the Kuruwita – Erathna Sri Pada trail in Heramitipana.
