The Dhowa Rock Temple is a protected heritage site in Sri Lanka and is situated in a small and ancient village on the Badulla – Bandarawela main road. The temple is famous for its large and unfinished Buddha Statue which is carved into the rock face and is 38 feet in height. It dates back over 2000 years and is considered to be an example of Mahayana sculpture.
