Besama Waterfall is situated in Passara in the Badulla district. Its height has not been recorded. It consists of a slow shutter lower fall and upper fall. The Besama Waterfall is surrounded by lush greenery which is due to the forest surrounding it in its remote location. The pool of the waterfall is suitable for swimming and bathing. Besama waterfall has got its name due to the shape of its pool representing a basin which in Sinhala is known as “Besama”.

Getting to Besama Waterfall

From Ella take the Ella – Passara Road and go past Balleketuwa, Namunukula up until you reach Passara. At Passara turn to the Peradeniya-Badulla-Chenkaladi Highway and go on this route to find the Besama Waterfall.
