Distance from Ella – 32.3 km (52 minutes)

Alakolagala Falls is situated in the Badulla district. It is 30 meters in height and is sourced by the Alakola Oya which is how the waterfall gets its name. The water from the falls flows on to the Kirindi Oya. The waterfall is surrounded by mountains and jungle where elephants roam around freely.

Getting to Alakolagala Falls

From Ella take the Wellawaya-Ella-Kumbalwela Highway and go past Wellawaya and travel through sugarcane plantations for a further 2 km after reaching the 133rd mile post at Rosebury to get to Alakolagala Falls.
