Hikkaduwa is a seaside resort town located in the southern province of Sri Lanka, close to the city of Galle. Its beaches are renowned for surfing and various water activities. Hikkaduwa is designated as a coral sanctuary and is home to marine turtles and exotic fish. Its glass boat rides are very popular among locals and tourists alike.
There are many restaurants in this beachside town. Another unique feature in Hikkaduwa is that a lot of roadside vendors sell various crafts made of seashells and parts of corals. Although a small town, it is filled with activity and the vibe continues towards its neighboring city of Galle. It is a place great for surfing and there are quite a few surf schools which include diving as well.
