Dambora Ella is situated in Labuagama. It is among the few waterfalls in the Colombo district. It is 10 meters in height and is attached to the Wakoya River. This was formerly known as “Demala Falls” as tamil laborers used to bathe here. Dambora Falls is located near the Labugama Reservoir in the village of Dambora in Labugama close to Hanwella in the Avissawela Electorate.
Although the published and recorded height of Dambora Ella is 10 meters, it is said that the waterfall is about 15 to 20 meters in height. Accessing the waterfall is not easy and there is no proper way to it and it is a difficult climb up to reach the fall.
Getting to Dambora Ella
From Colombo take the Kotte – Bope Road and go past Watareka and Padukka until you reach Hanwella. Take the road from Hanwella to Labugama, past the old bridge at Thunmodara. Travel a further 1 km and turn right in the direction of Dambora village and continue for 3 km until you reach Dambora Ella.
