Mohini Ella Fall is situated close to the Maskeliya town in the Nuwara Eliya district. It is 30 meters high and resembles the locks of a woman. Superstitious villagers avoid this waterfall after dark fearing a devil inhabits the area, hence the name “Mohini (devil)”.
The water flowing from the Mohini Ella Fall goes under the Hatton – Nallathanniya Road and joins the Maskeliya Reservoir.
Getting to Mohini Ella Fall
From Nuwara Eliya travel along the Avissawella – Hatton – Nuwara Eliya Highway and the Hatton – Maskeliya – Dalhousie Road passing Nanuoya, Kotagala, Hatton and Dickoya up to Maskeliya to reach the Mohini Ella Fall which is situated approximately 7.3 km from the Maussakele junction along the Sripada Road in Maskeliya.
